Taylor Swift kicked off the second international leg of her wildly successful Eras Tour in early February, and Asia Pacific hoteliers were, in fact, “ready for it”. The seventeen-night leg gave a much-needed performance boost to Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, and Singapore hotels.

In Chinese culture, the dragon represents strength and good luck, which is fitting as Lunar New Year brought performance growth to China hotels once more during the important holiday period.

The short-term demand outlook for our 46 forecast markets outside of the U.S. remains relatively stable. Typical growth patterns have returned to all regions in 2024 as events resume their regular cadence and consumer confidence in travel increases.

STR's global "bubble chart" update as of 10 February 2024 shows that 74% of markets increased revenue per available room (RevPAR) from the comparable period in 2023. Growth was balanced with 64% of markets showing increased occupancy and 70% achieving a higher average daily rate (ADR) than last year.

Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas produced unprecedented hotel performance levels—not just for the Super Bowl but for any weekend in history.  

In early-April 2024, a Total Solar Eclipse will once again pass over cities across North America and drive an influx of spectators in need of overnight accommodations. That means a lift in hotel performance is once again on the horizon, but there are key differences from the last Total Eclipse in 2017.
