There was a time of doubt and denial about the ecological transition. Then came the time of awareness and environmental responsibility. Armed with the RE2020 and the tertiary sector decree, which are now coming into full effect, the low-carbon tocsin will ring out in the French real estate industry in 2022.
As the first edition of the Salon de l'immobilier bas carbone (Sibca) gets underway, players in this industry are now measuring their weight in our country's carbon trajectory, as demonstrated by the first low-carbon barometer produced by Business Immo, in partnership with theBBCA association and thanks to the support of Bouygues Immobilier, Altarea and Accenta. Better still. These players are trying, whether willingly or unwillingly, to bend the tide towards the National Low-Carbon Strategy. It's a long way to go, but it's not impossible if we are to meet the ambitious but necessary targets of the Paris Agreements.
Real estate companies everywhere have embarked on a veritable carbon hunt within their properties and assets. Users and investors - the two main populations surveyed in this first exclusive barometer - are speaking with one voice to demand more common standards. For without information and accelerated training, the road to low-carbon development will be strewn with pitfalls for the real estate industry, which, as we know, as a whole contributes to over 30% of greenhouse gas emissions.
