Clearbell's Chande takes on Houses of Parliament restoration role
"It is a true honour," said Clearbell Capital founder and senior partner Manish Chande, after being appointed as a non-executive director of the Restoration and Renewal Delivery Authority Board of the Houses of Parliament.
Chande, who has worked in the real estate industry for more than 38 years and has been a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2008, will sit on the board that has been asked to lead the restoration of the Palace of Westminster to ensure it is fit for purpose.
The complex, built 150 years ago at the start of Queen Victoria’s reign, is part of a UNESCO world heritage site and has played a role in the country's political history for 900 years but is in need of significant work, with issues including asbestos and ageing infrastructure.
Chande said: "The Houses of Parliament are an iconic symbol of the UK’s democracy, and the work of the Delivery Authority is vital to safeguarding their future. The R&R Programme remains firmly on track, with the Delivery Authority continuing to make strong progress in delivering critical work to inform the costed proposals to be presented to both Houses of Parliament later this year."
