A new setback for the left on ecology: under pressure from the right and the RN, French MPs on Wednesday approved new derogations to the principle of "zero net artificialisation" (ZAN), as part of the bill on economic simplification. By a narrow majority of 105 votes to 97, the National Assembly adopted an article allowing the limit of natural surfaces to be developed to be "exceeded by up to 30%", and this "without justification".
