Knight Frank appoints head of Glasgow office agency
"The Glasgow market is vast and there is a lot of activity, despite the challenges of recent years," said Simon Capaldi in a statement after being named Knight Frank's head of Glasgow office agency.
Capaldi joined the firm in Edinburgh more than a decade ago and was promoted to partner in 2017. Having worked in Glasgow for the past 18 months, he is now leading the agency team, with a focus on landlord lettings strategies and further developing the team.
Capaldi is described by Knight Frank as "one of the most experienced office agents in Scotland’s central belt", with 15 years' real estate experience. He has also had stints at at Avison Young and Speirs Gumley.
John Rae, head of office at Knight Frank Glasgow, added: "Simon has been with Knight Frank for well over a decade and is one of the central belt’s best-known office agents.
"He brings invaluable experience to the Glasgow office and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact he will make with his new role focused on the city, helping to grow the team in the months and years ahead."
Cushman & Wakefield adds Birmingham industrial partner
Cushman & Wakefield has appointed Nick Spencer as a partner in its national logistics and industrial team. Spencer will be based in Birmingham, where he will "play a key role in supporting the firm's occupier, developer and investor clients across the region", the firm said. He joins from Frontier Estates where he was a development manager for three years, as well as being UK operations officer at Panattoni earlier in his career for around four years. David Binks, international partner in Cushman & Wakefield’s UK logistics and industrial team, said in a statement: "[Spencer] will play a vital role in our continued growth across the region."
Former JLL property management expert picks up director role
Form Property, the property management business, has hired Jack Pinkney as director of property management. Pinkney, who previously oversaw residential and commercial mixed-use developments at Native Communities, will handle the wider property management function as well as focusing on the growth of its portfolio in Manchester. He has experience managing large institutional funds and high-net-worth clients during his 10-year stint at JLL, with projects including 70 St Mary Axe and 40 Berkeley Square in London. Pinkney added: "I am joining the Form team at a fortuitous time as the Manchester property landscape is evolving at a rapid pace."
Familiar face returns to help Hartnell Taylor Cook

Hannah Batchelor has returned to Hartnell Taylor Cook as a senior associate director in its property and asset management team. Batchelor, who spent three years at JLL, will focus on prime central London office management, "helping grow its portfolio of assets and client base". She specialised in central London offices as an associate at JLL and began her career at HTC as a placement student while studying at the University of the West of England. She returned as a graduate surveyor in 2016, qualifying as a chartered surveyor and providing asset advice across a diverse portfolio in the property and asset management team before progressing.
Crown Estate recruits head of delivery

The Crown Estate has appointed John Nicholson as head of delivery and programme management. Nicholson will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of major construction projects across the UK for the urban development pipeline. His previous experience spans retail and office developments to sports stadiums in London and New York, including the delivery of the Sky TV Campus in London and the Aquatic Centre and Athletes Village for the Olympic Delivery Authority. He was awarded an OBE for services to the London 2012 Olympics in 2013 and also worked for Chelsea Football Club, helping develop its Cobham training ground.
Civic hires Edinburgh-based sustainability director

Urban infrastructure specialist Civic has appointed Becky McLean as sustainability director. McLean will be based in Edinburgh and lead the expansion of the firm's environmental and sustainability services. With more than 20 years of experience in environmental consultancy across both public and private sectors, Civic said the senior hire brings a comprehensive understanding of sustainability challenges and opportunities. She joins from consultancy Sweco, where she was head of sustainability, energy, water and environment, and is also a board trustee for the Green Action Trust, and advisor to the Scottish Climate Intelligence service.
Turner & Townsend adds senior trio to real estate team
Turner & Townsend, the global professional services firm which is majority-owned by CBRE, has added Mike O’Donnell, Al Fernie and Jason Smith to its UK real estate business, who all join its project management consultancy team. O’Donnell joins as UK PMC lead and is supported by Fernie who joins as project director as well as Smith as director in the real estate team. Turner & Townsend, which employs 22,000 people in more than 60 countries, said the trio will be focused on helping clients drive "improved delivery performance through increased transparency, shared risk and direct client engagement across the construction supply chain".
