As an associate at boutique development and brokerage firm Millennium Commercial Properties, Minja Yan attends a lot of industry events and networks with scores of her peers. But earlier this month, she and a group of real estate pros got to hang out with someone special.
Yan met Pepper, an advanced humanoid robot, during Urban Land Institute Nevada's tour of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Black Fire Innovation Hub. The center was created by UNLV and Caesars Entertainment to spark innovation and creativity to help Southern Nevada grow the industries that help drive the region's economy.

"We learned so much about UNLV’s economic development strategy and partnerships with many local and global tech companies in the gaming, esport, and hospitality industries," Yan said in a LinkedIn post.
One of the tour's highlights, Yan said, was Black Fire Innovation Executive Director Robert Rippee showing ULI members "very interesting technology products at the center and the future vision of growing the technology sector in Southern Nevada’s economy."
It's been a busy couple of weeks for Yan, who's worked at Las Vegas-based Millennium Commercial for nearly four years.
She just helped launch UNLV’s first Asian American and Pacific Islander Alumni Affinity Club. Its mission is to engage, connect and support UNLV's AAPI alumni, students, faculty and staff, Yan said.
