Podcast: Cluttons boss on leading like Steve Jobs
Having entered the top job at Cluttons around a year ago, John Gravett says he likes to keep his leadership style simple, adopting a similar approach to the late Apple founder and technology pioneer Steve Jobs, who once said, "simple can be harder than complex".
"That's an area that I have always tried to focus on, be that in my current position now, or be that when I was looking after client mandates, or when I was looking after a lease renewal rent review negotiation," Gravett says.
The Cluttons CEO is no stranger to the technology sector himself, having worked on property acquisitions for telecoms giant Vodafone during the early part of his career. He tells CoStar News' Top CREdentials podcast that it was this role, where he experienced the firm's Newbury headquarters, that gave him a taste for the corporate world.
In the episode he discusses his responsibilities leading one of the UK's oldest chartered surveyors and its goal to become a real assets adviser, in addition to providing his views on the future of the office, the right way to retrofit and the current state of the UK planning system.
