Scores of commercial real estate professionals who know each other from social media companies LinkedIn, Instagram and X met in real life last week at the annual ICSC industry convention in Las Vegas.
Linda Day Harrison of theBrokerList, an online commercial real estate community, and Sarah Malcolm, founder of ad agency Quiet Valor, organized the gathering, held at the Sports Bar at the Aria Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. In years past, it was referred to as a "tweet up."
"This was our 10th year hosting this event," Malcolm said in a text message.

Brokers and other pros who recognized each other from their avatars and profiles exchanged contact information and caught up. People in attendance included Cushman & Wakefield's Ken Ashley, Natalie Wainwright of Omnipresence Commercial, Robin Hendrix of Coldwell Banker Commercial and Kidder Mathews triple-net investments specialist Kevin Pon.
As they shared stories and drinks, Chris Hatch of Legend Partners, aka NNN Income, was asked how he has so many followers on the social platform formally known as Twitter. The resident of Salt Lake City, whose airport code is SLC, replied by taking to X to demonstrate with the following post how real estate professionals can encourage readers to engage:
"As I approach 100,000 followers I thought I would reintroduce myself. I’m Chris, based in SLC where I live with my wife & 5 kids. 6th generation Utahn. We build ground up retail & MF throughout the Mtn & Desert states. Hit the link in bio to learn about investing with us."
