Forward STAR Data Reporting Guidelines
To participate in STR’s Forward STAR program, hotels must report their daily Adjusted Rooms Available and Rooms Booked for the next 90 days (for weekly reports) and 365 days (for monthly reports). In return, STR will report back on Occupancy on the Books and Pickup for the hotel as well as its (sub)market and competitive set (comp set subscription required).

Data Guideline FAQs
What different booking statuses should be included in our Forward STAR data?
There are a multitude of terminologies which are often used within the industry, such as definite, confirmed, tentative, optional, prospective, etc. These terminologies are often used and interpreted in different ways. Ultimately, it will depend on both your system configuration and your definitions, particularly when it comes to group business.
STR is reporting Occupancy on the Books, which includes booking statuses that have been deducted from the Adjusted Rooms Available. This type of data should be reported to STR.
If in doubt about which bookings to include within your data, please reach out to your account manager or the Forward STAR team at data@str.com.
Do I only include group business contracts that have been signed and returned?
If your property/portfolio is deducting rooms from Adjusted Rooms Available only when a contract has been issued (i.e. not signed and returned), STR wants those figures included in your submissions.
Should I include my allotted rooms when reporting Rooms Booked to STR?
Allotments which have been negotiated with any vendor (i.e. Hotelbeds, Jac Travel) do not need to be included in your Forward STAR data. Once an allotment has been booked through a reservation and is being deducted from your inventory, then it should be included.
Does STR want to see my group bookings even if cancellation policy can still be applied?
If the group bookings are already being deducted from your room inventory, STR wants to see those in your figures. Any room cancellation will simply be factored in as negative pickup within your Forward STAR report.
What if our reporting system cannot comply with STR’s data guidelines?
Our dedicated integrations team will work together with you and your PMS/RMS to assist in trying to obtain the correct data. Should all options be exhausted, you will be requested to submit a manual csv template (once a week) with the correct information. Should you identify this scenario, please reach out to our integration team at integration@str.com
