Observers were a bit unsure what to make of the news this week that Toronto-based FirstService Corp. struck a deal to acquire a 65% interest in New York City-based GVA Williams. After all, FirstService owns several major affiliates in the Colliers network, including the largest -- CMN International (formerly Colliers Macaulay Nicolls), which it operates under the Colliers International banner. And Colliers already has an affiliate in New York City, Colliers ABR.
