Avison Young Hires Industrial Group Leader From JLL

Avison Young has hired Gavin Stainthorpe, who co-led JLL's Chicago urban industrial team for the past five years, as a senior vice president, said Brad Sinclair, principal and managing director of the firm’s Atlanta office, where Stainthorpe now is based. In his new role, Stainthorpe will leverage his experience in industrial leasing, religious facilities, nonprofit organizations and business development to "be a key leader in the growth and expansion" of the Atlanta office, the brokerage said. Stainthorpe has more than three decades of experience, including more than 10 years working Chicago's urban industrial market, where he completed infill transactions involving unimproved land, ground-up development and adaptive reuse. He also has worked in the United Kingdom and South Africa. "At this stage of my career, it’s not often that you get to be a part of building something new," Stainthorpe said in a statement.

CBRE Promotes Pair of Retail Sales Brokers in California

CBRE has promoted Alex Kozakov and Patrick Wade, who co-lead a retail investment property sales team in the firm’s South Bay office in El Segundo, California, have been promoted to executive vice president. Kozakov and Wade, who joined CBRE in 2013, became partners in 2006. Since then, they have completed more than 300 transactions with an aggregate value of over $2.6 billion. Robert Peddicord, executive managing director of CBRE South Bay, said Kozakov and Wade have established themselves as "one of Southern California’s most accomplished investment property brokerage teams.” Before they joined CBRE, Kozakov and Wade both worked at Marcus & Millichap.

Tishman Speyer Adds PIMCO Executive to Debt Team

Tishman Speyer has added Amit Rustgi, who has worked at PIMCO and Brookfield Asset Management, to Tishman's new debt business as managing director of credit strategies. In the newly created role, Rustgi will lead originations in Tishman Speyer’s new debt platform, the company said. Specifically, he will specialize in commercial real estate loans connected to "institutional quality residential, industrial, life science, office and other mixed-use projects and portfolios across the United States’ top cities," Tishman said. Based in the company's New York City headquarters, he will report to senior managing director and global head of debt Randall Rothschild and work closely with the company's regional teams to source, underwrite, acquire and manage debt investments, Tishman added. The global development and investment firm said it created the new debt platform as part of its diversification strategy. “The current commercial real estate environment provides an excellent opportunity to earn attractive risk-adjusted returns," Tishman Speyer CEO Rob Speyer said in a statement. "This is the right moment for non-traditional lenders with regional and operational expertise to execute on market driven debt strategies."

Cushman & Wakefield Launches New Sun Belt Industrial Team

Cushman & Wakefield has launched a new industrial team in Charleston, South Carolina, that will be led by managing director Eric Ridlehoover and two new hires from Avison Young. They are Ryan Young, who joined the firm as a senior director, and Drew Scharf, Cushman & Wakefield said. The new team will expand the firm’s brokerage capabilities in industrial real estate throughout Charleston, Cushman & Wakefield said. “The Charleston market offers tremendous growth opportunities in the industrial space, and Eric, Ryan and Drew better position our firm to capitalize on that,” said Brett Gray, Cushman & Wakefield managing principal for Charlotte, the Triad and South Carolina. Ridlehoover brings two decades of brokerage and leadership experience to his new role leading the Charleston office. Young spent the previous five years at Avison Young and Scharf the past three.

Lee Launches Full Office in Charlotte, North Carolina

Lee & Associates' satellite location in Charlotte, North Carolina, has transitioned to a full-fledged office with access to the brokerage's resources and capital structure. The move comes after Greg Pieratt moved from San Diego to North Carolina's biggest city to open the satellite outlet this past spring. Pieratt is a 20-year industry veteran who started his career at Lee & Associates and has been a principal there for more than 16 years. When he launched the Charlotte location in March, he was the sole employee. "In just four months, we have grown from a one-person satellite office to a 15-person, fully functioning brokerage firm," Pieratt said in a statement. Moss Withers, CEO and principal of Lee & Associates Raleigh Durham and his colleagues, along with Lee's leadership teams in South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia helped Pieratt establish the firm's presence in Charlotte. "Our expansion into the Charlotte market is a great example of the importance and emphasis we place on the Southeast region, Lee & Associates CEO Jeffrey Rinkov said in a statement.

Berkadia Expands Investment Sales Group

Berkadia has expanded its investment sales group with the addition of managing director Rob Starrett in Cleveland. Starrett will report to Mike Miner, a senior vice president and co-head of investment sales and production operations. An industry veteran with more than 15 years of experience, Starrett has directed more than $3 billion in dispositions, financing and equity transactions. Before joining Berkadia, Starrett co-founded and served as a senior vice president and principal of BWE Investment Sales, an affiliate of Bellwether Enterprise. In his first two years at BWE, he completed more than $1.5 billion in investment sales transactions in 13 different states. Starrett also served as director of transactions and finance at Mid-America Management and early in his career worked for NRP Group, a national multifamily real estate company.
