Montreal Hotel Recovery Hits Some Turbulence As Omicron Variant Spreads

Air travel to Montreal continued to recover from the lows it hit during the first half of 2021. Montreal's domestic air travel has bounced back and has been recovering in line with the growth of the local revenue per available room, or RevPAR, at Montreal hotels. The recovery in international travel, however, continues to lag. Worries surrounding the omicron variant have spurred public health officials to tighten international arrivals, suggesting that, in the short-term, foreign arrivals to Montreal — and the rest of Canada — will likely fall.
