JPMorgan expands housing finance team; Transwestern adds Minneapolis research manager; EYA names multifamily chief

JPMorgan Chase appointed Karen Purcell as head of the community development banking team within its J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking division. A 25-year industry veteran, Purcell joined the New York-based firm from Bank of America to lead a team that provides financing for the development and preservation of affordable workforce housing, beginning in January, JPMorgan Chase said.

Purcell will report to Michelle Herrick, managing director and head of commercial real estate in the J.P. Morgan division. The company's community development banking team has extended more than $3 billion in debt financing this year to help create or preserve more than 15,000 affordable housing units, the firm said.

Jesse Tollison joined the Minneapolis office of Transwestern Real Estate Services as a research manager. The firm said Tollison will oversee research and data initiatives in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. That includes tracking and reporting on office, industrial, retail and healthcare properties. He worked previously as a research manager at Colliers.

EYA, a Rockville, Maryland-based developer of urban residential properties, appointed Robin Bettarel as head of multifamily development as it seeks to expand its project pipeline in the Washington, D.C., region. Bettarel has more than two decades of industry experience, serving most recently as managing director of development at Middleburg Communities.

Aaron Cukier joined CBRE as a senior vice president in the firm’s New York City retail brokerage practice. Cukier most recently served as vice president and head of commercial leasing at Extell Development. Before that, he was a managing director at Newmark, where he handled retail transactions for national clients including Guess, Chase Bank and Swatch Group.

National developer Portman Holdings hired Jimmy Warren as vice president of industrial development. Based in Atlanta, Warren will focus on growing Portman's industrial business in markets across the Southeast, including Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina. He is a former development partner at Huntington Industrial Partners and also previously worked at Walker & Dunlop.

San Diego-based Urban Property Group added principals Cameron Lacey, Pasquale Ioele, Andrew Shemirani and Ashley Tiefel as it seeks to grow its commercial brokerage services in Southern California. The firm said it also added Traci Knight as a marketing specialist. Lacey joined the firm from Next Wave Commercial, and Ioele, Shemirani, Tiefel and Knight joined from Flocke & Avoyer Commercial Real Estate.

Multifamily property management firm Mission Rock Residential named longtime President Meredith Wright as its new CEO. The Denver-based company said Wright succeeded founding CEO Patricia Hutchison, who is transitioning into a new role as chair of the board in an advisory capacity through 2026. Mission Rock manages more than 160 properties with 35,000 units nationwide.

Hospitality interior design firm Parker-Torres Design hired Carrie Tolman to serve as associate principal and director of luxury hospitality interiors. The Boston-based firm said Tolman will oversee projects in the Boston, Chicago and Miami regions after prior work at KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group.
