Many people who could work remotely moved inland from expensive coastal cities in the early months of the pandemic. As a result, demand for market-rate apartments hit new highs last year in the Spokane region. This drove rent growth to record levels. However, this surge in occupancy and ensuing rent gains appears to have been short lived.
