In uncertain times, daily data helps track anything from coronavirus cases to apartment rents, but a lag in monthly data can present problems in understanding the scope of the pandemic’s impact on the economy. Seattle's economy is no exception, with preliminary Bureau of Labor Statistics data released on March 27 showing slightly positive monthly job growth in February, after a decrease in January. Only two sectors reported major losses: trade, transportation & utilities and manufacturing.
