CBRE pursues Atlanta property management business

CBRE said it appointed Emily White as property management market leader for Atlanta, where she will manage business development and daily operations for the brokerage’s 49.5-million-square-foot building management portfolio in the region. White is a 20-year property management veteran.

She previously worked at JLL as an executive vice president, where she led a team of more than 20 professionals who managed over 60 million square feet of industrial properties across the Southeast. Before that, she oversaw large office portfolios as a general manager and property manager for national and regional investment firms. 

Hoar Construction taps regional presidents

National project contractor Hoar Construction promoted Jason Bennett and Brady Johnson to regional president posts. The Birmingham, Alabama-based company said Bennett now leads operations at its Nashville, Tennessee, office, where he will oversee business development for the Nashville and Chattanooga markets in Tennessee, along with its Washington, D.C., division. Johnson is based in Austin, Texas, and oversees the company’s Austin, Houston and North Texas divisions, Hoar said.

Bennett started at Hoar in 2000 as a project engineer in the company’s Birmingham headquarters before moving to the Nashville division that now has 100 employees serving development clients in industries including multifamily and higher education. Johnson started at Hoar in 1998 as an assistant superintendent and later general superintendent in Birmingham before moving to the Texas office in 2013. 

Avison Young expands Houston office team

Avison Young promoted Marti Grizzle to vice president. She's based in the Houston office and is now part of a team focused on representing office landlords, the brokerage said. Grizzle has been at Avison Young for about three years. She previously served as a senior associate. The company said Grizzle is now working with Principal and Managing Director Wade Bowlin, and the two are responsible for more than 2 million square feet of office space in Avison Young’s Houston leasing portfolio.

Grizzle started her career as a mechanical engineer in the building ventilation industry, where she designed heating, ventilation and air conditioning, or HVAC, systems before switching to commercial real estate. Prior to Avison Young, she was a leasing manager at Madison Marquette.

Redwood West hires former JLL executive in Orange County

Commercial real estate services firm Redwood West hired veteran Orange County, California, broker Curtis Ellmore as managing director and co-brokerage lead, and Dillon Knight as senior vice president. Ellmore and Knight used to work for JLL and will focus on regional and national office and industrial clients.

Ellmore has more than 20 years of industry experience and served as managing director at JLL. Knight has more than 10 years of experience and was a senior associate at JLL. Newport Beach, California-based Redwood West is led by managing partners and co-founders Ben Gott and John Pomer, both former regional directors at Stream Realty Partners and Newmark.

Portman looks to grow Texas industrial projects

Developer Portman Holdings said it hired Jon Harmon as senior vice president to lead industrial development in Texas. He's based in Portman's Dallas office. Harmon has 20 years of industrial experience. The Atlanta-based firm said his hiring marks the official launch of its industrial platform in high-growth markets across Texas, where it intends to invest more than $100 million annually.

Prior to joining Portman, Harmon served as vice president of capital deployment and leasing at IDI Logistics, where he oversaw development and leasing across Texas, Tennessee and Mississippi. Before that, he held roles at Sealy & Co.
