Savills adds director to property management team

Stephen Elliott, the former Legal & General assistant fund manager, has joined Savills' property management team as a director, working out of its London office at St Margaret Street.

Elliott, who has 25 years of senior real estate fund management experience, takes up the role of director of strategic client solutions.

The recruit adds Savills to a number of high-profile firms on his CV to date, including Royal London Asset Management, where he was a senior fund manager, as well as Aviva Investors and F&C Asset Management.

Katrina McKay, chief operating officer, UK property management at Savills, said: "His extensive experience working with institutional investors and deep understanding of client needs will be invaluable as we continue to evolve our market leading property management offering."

Pegasus Group hires two directors

Pegasus Group, the multidisciplinary development consultancy, has hired two directors to its planning practice, including Clare Preece in London. Simon Handy also joins in Manchester, with the pair bringing a "proven track record and wealth of experience" totalling 43 years.

Preece has worked in both public and private sectors and was planning director at consultancy Fuller Long, while Handy moves across from BNP Paribas Real Estate, formerly Strutt & Parker, where he led the firm’s Oxford office. Henry Courtier, director of planning in the London office, said: "[Clare] brings a wealth of planning knowledge and experience working in London and the South East."

Avison Young picks Glasgow managing director

Avison Young has promoted Iain King to regional managing director in its Glasgow office. King joined the business in 2023 as principal and head of building and project consultancy for Scotland, bringing 25 years of experience as a chartered building surveyor, having acted for clients including Aviva and Virgin Media. His experience spans offices, retail, industrial, healthcare, student accommodation, hotels and build-to-rent, and he has worked on some of the largest projects in Scotland, including leading a multi-disciplinary team on the purchase of retail parks, trade counters and large industrial assets, and advising on BTR schemes.

Hartnell Taylor Cook names heads of London office and agency

Hartnell Taylor Cook has appointed Matthew Sharkey as its head of London office and James Proctor as head of London agency. Sharkey, who has 25 years' experience, will oversee the strategic direction for the London team, overseeing its growth after securing a number of new client wins. The role is in addition to his day-to-day position as a partner in the project and building consultancy division. Proctor is extending his position as head of central London offices and will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s agency operations across London, driving business development and strengthening relationships with key clients. He joined from Allsop in 2023.

Graham and Sibbald hires industrial director

Graham and Sibbald has recruited Yan Stewart, an industrial expert with a strong reputation across Scotland's central belt, as a director in Glasgow. Stewart brings more than 28 years’ experience in the commercial property market, where he has focused mainly on industrial and logistics properties. Stewart was head of property at Gym Juniors before making the move, according to his LinkedIn profile, where he spent more than seven years. He has also worked for leisure operator Go Ape and agency GVA James Barr. Calum Campbell, managing partner, said: "His knowledge and reputation across the central belt of Scotland is second to none."

Karrev launches in-house property management team

Property developer Karrev has formed an in-house property management team led by Louise Dean. Karrev said Dean will be in charge of the team’s development and help to recruit staff as it looks to grow over the next 12 months. Dean joined the firm earlier this year as director of property management, coming from T&M Property Investments where she was a property manager. Her career history also includes stints at CBRE, Landwood Group and Revolve Real Estate, according to her LinkedIn profile. The launch of Karrev's own in-house team comes as it completed work at Manchester’s Sunlight House, a £35 million, office-led refurbishment project.

Council promotes planning and development director

Simon Delahunty-Forrest has been named Birmingham City Council’s director of planning and development. Delahunty-Forrest, who has worked at the council for 35 years, previously held the role of assistant director development and planning before his promotion. The recruit posted on LinkedIn that he brings "experience, insight, and a proven track record of strategic leadership to the role". He added: "I understand this city, its stakeholders, and its challenges – and I’m ready to hit the ground running. Alongside my experience, I bring energy, passion, and a fierce determination to deliver real change for the council, the city, and its citizens."
