The March of Dimes of the New York area honored Greystar Development Services Managing Director Gary Kerr and Andrew Ashforth, Ashforth Co.'s co-CEO and principal, for their support of moms and babies in the region at the nonprofit group's Westchester-Fairfield Real Estate Awards Breakfast.
Kerr accepted the March of Dimes Real Estate Award on behalf of Greystar, the Charleston, South Carolina-based manager and operator of more than $280 billion of real estate in 241 markets across the globe. Greystar is the largest apartment manager with 726,826 units in its portfolio, according to the 2023 National Multifamily Housing Council's list of the 50 largest apartment managers.
The group gave Ashforth its Martin S. Berger Award for Lifetime Achievement. Ashforth is jointly responsible for the overall operation of Ashforth Co., including ownership and development activities and oversight of its A.P. Construction Co. and Albert B. Ashforth, Inc. – Management Services business units.
Louis Cappelli, founder and managing member of the Cappelli Organization, presented the Real Estate Award to Kerr, and Joe Simone, president of Simone Development Cos., handed the Martin S. Berger Award to Ashforth.
The event was co-chaired by Patricia Valenti, an executive managing director at Newmark, and Don Bucci, a managing director at JLL.
