CBRE expands retail team; Colliers duo to chase Nevada business; Broker rejoins Lee in Chicago

Lauren Dressler joined CBRE as a senior vice president in San Diego, as the company seeks to expand tenant representation services for major U.S. retail brands. Dressler will focus on expansion efforts for retail clients across multiple regions nationwide, the firm said.

Dressler brings more than 20 years of experience in tenant representation, acquisitions and development, joining CBRE from Oak Place Partners. She worked earlier at Hunt Cos., MacFarlane Partners and PwC.

In Boston, Anthony Sardo joined CBRE as a senior vice president in the firm’s U.S. healthcare capital markets practice focused on debt and structured finance transactions. Sardo joined the firm from JLL, where he served as a senior director of capital markets, and has worked in other healthcare-focused finance roles since 2017.

Colliers said it hired Shawn Smith as an executive vice president and Sean Retzloff as a senior vice president in its retail practice in Reno, Nevada. Smith and Retzloff are formerly with Kidder Mathews. They have a combined 40 years of experience in landlord and tenant representation, shopping center building and land acquisitions, dispositions and development.

Sean Austin returned as a principal to Lee & Associates, where he joined the firm’s industrial brokerage group serving the Chicago region, the brokerage said. Austin worked most recently as an executive vice president at Colliers, and before that served as a vice president and later principal at Lee & Associates. He began his commercial real estate career in 2003 in Southern California, handling industrial property transactions in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire regions.

Commercial real estate services firm Pegasus appointed Jason Lawit as managing director of strategic partnerships. Lawit, based in Los Angeles, will lead nationwide partnerships with firms such as registered investment advisors, wealth management companies and family-run investment firms, the company said. He joined Pegasus after 15 years at Northern Trust.

Piedmont Realty Trust promoted Alex Valente to co-chief operating officer to work with George Wells to oversee property and other asset management. Valente has been with the Atlanta-based company for nearly 20 years, serving most recently as executive vice president of its Southeast region. His new role involves oversight of most of Piedmont’s Eastern portfolio, including holdings in Atlanta, Orlando, Boston and the Northern Virginia-Washington, D.C., region, the real estate investment trust said.

Atlanta-based Cortland, a firm focused on multifamily investment and development, appointed Brad Hamel as executive vice president of community operations. Hamel will serve as senior operator of its national portfolio and is responsible for financial performance and resident experience among other areas, Cortland said. He brings more than 25 years of experience, serving most recently as founding principal of The Blockhouse Group after earlier roles at Lessen, Alliance Residential and Riverstone Residential.

Christopher Davis joined real estate investment firm Altus Equity Group as vice president of asset management. Davis, based in Austin, Texas, will handle portfolio performance and related duties, Altus said. He has 15 years of experience overseeing national portfolios of multifamily, single-family rental and build-to-rent properties. He held prior roles at Bluerock Real Estate and Bell Partners.

Nicholas Muir joined global project management consulting firm MGAC as a senior director in its New York office. Muir has more than three decades of international experience, managing property portfolios across 13 countries. He held earlier roles at Centric Alliance and OnSiteIQ. Born and raised in London, he is a chartered surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, or RICS.
