Emory University’s Goizueta Business School has landed Nadeem Meghji, who became the sole global head of Blackstone Real Estate last month, as a speaker at its annual real estate conference this spring.
Goizueta said Tuesday that Meghji, pictured, would lead the keynote conversation at the 5th Annual Emory Goizueta Real Estate Conference April 7 at the St. Regis Atlanta. Julie Solomon, a partner and head of real estate at global alternative investment manager Ares, and Christopher “Chip” Lippman, managing director and a partner at Carlyle, also will speak at the event that's expected to draw 700 attendees.
The event gives the industry an early look at Meghji, who joined Blackstone in 2008, in his new role. He previously served as the global co-head of Blackstone Real Estate and took over as the global leader when fellow co-head Kathleen McCarthy departed the investment giant to explore new opportunities. Meghji served as Blackstone's head of real estate in the Americas from January 2015 through January 2024.
The annual event is hosted by the BL Harbert Real Estate Center, Goizueta’s flagship real estate initiative. Its previous speakers included late global investor and real estate CEO Sam Zell.
The conference is designed to highlight Atlanta's position as a national hub for real estate investment and innovation, Goizueta said. "As some of the nation’s largest and most innovative real estate projects take shape in Atlanta and across the South, industry leaders are seeking insight into where capital, opportunity, and risk are headed next," the school said.
