Avison Young has named a new managing director in Vancouver who will focus on the firm's core strategic business plan, emphasizing business development and increasing market share throughout the city and province.
The Toronto-based real estate company said Brett Armstrong, who first joined the firm in 2012, will take over on Dec. 2.
Armstrong has focused his career on developing long-term corporate relationships with owners and occupiers across North America. He most recently served as principal and senior vice president of leasing in Vancouver. Previously, he was based in Toronto, where he was the acting practice leader for the downtown leasing team.
Mark Fieder, principal and president of Avison Young in Canada, cited Armstrong's commitment to building the real estate company's prominence in the region in announcing the promotion.
"Vancouver remains a key market in Canada," Fielder said in a statement. "He has been a top producer for the firm over the last decade."
Avison Young said the new managing director was selected after an extensive search. Armstrong is being tasked with focusing on revenue growth and market share. He also is charged with identifying growth opportunities within the Avison Young team while seeking new talent.
"I've been fortunate to work with so many leasing clients, large and small, which has given me tremendous insights into our business, and I believe this has positioned me well for these next steps to lead the Vancouver team," Armstrong said in a statement.
