JLL names biotech project chief; Transwestern expands Southeast team; Newmark hire targets multifamily deals

JLL appointed David Kristjanson as global life sciences industry lead within its project and development services group. The brokerage said Kristjanson will advise clients on location, design and related matters in regard to biotech facility projects. JLL said it is increasing services in the property category as the life science industry undergoes its most significant realignment since the original biotech boom of the 1970s and 1980s.

Kristjanson, based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the life science field to JLL. He served most recently as managing director and global sector lead for life science at Turner & Townsend, a CBRE subsidiary.

Vanessa Manners joined Transwestern Real Estate Services as Southeast marketing director as the firm seeks to broaden service offerings in the region. Based in Atlanta, Manners has 15 years of industry experience, serving in prior market expansion efforts at engineering and design firm Kimley-Horn and structural engineering firm Bennett & Pless.

In Austin, Texas, Transwestern said it added Graham Trull as a vice president on its office agency leasing team serving Central Texas. Trull’s decade of experience includes previous roles at real estate service firms Riverside and Kucera Cos.

Newmark expanded its central U.S. multifamily capital markets group with the hiring of Matt Ledom as a senior managing director. The company said Ledom, based in Kansas City, Missouri, will handle transactions for clients in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Southern Illinois. He brings 15 years of investment sales experience, serving most recently as managing director at MMG Real Estate Advisors. He worked earlier as a vice president at Block Real Estate Services.

Kidder Mathews added Kevin Held as a senior vice president in its San Diego office. Held has 25 years of experience in net-lease investment sales and retail real estate. He has owned and developed properties for retailers and restaurant chains such as 7-Eleven, McDonald’s and Jack in the Box and also has built multifamily and single-family projects. He held earlier roles at SRS Real Estate Partners and Cushman & Wakefield.

Los Angeles-based TruAmerica Multifamily, one of the nation’s largest apartment investment firms, said it reorganized its acquisition leadership team with several moves, including the hiring of Ammanuel Metta as a managing director and promotion of Dylan Barreira to senior director. Also, Colin Riley joined TruAmerica as a director, and the firm said it expanded the Southern market duties of current director Julien Lipps. The company said Metta will oversee Central and Northeast regional acquisitions, Barreira will manage its Western Pacific and desert region deals, and Riley will direct transactions in states including Colorado, Utah, Washington and Oregon.

Prominent shopping center owner and operator Vestar appointed Patrick Brady as vice president of leasing. The Phoenix-based company said Brady will oversee its property portfolio in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington. He brings 20 years of retail transaction experience, having previously worked at Raider Hill Advisors, Site Centers Corp. and Macerich.

Commercial brokerage firm Berkadia established a new special situations team led by Kyle Stevenson. The company said Stevenson will advise clients, including lenders, banks and special-service firms, on divestment strategies to manage risk and recover capital. Based in Miami, he previously served as a senior managing director for Berkadia’s hotel and hospitality practice.

Brixton Capital, a Solana Beach, California-based owner and operator of retail and multifamily properties, hired Luke Kosters as general counsel. Kosters has 15 years of real estate legal and finance experience, serving most recently as general counsel for Kelly Investment Group.
