While the amendment to the Town & Country Town Planning Act, Use Classes 2020, is a well-intentioned and positive step by the government, the changes to the act must not become a free-for-all, writes Nick Weir, co-managing director, Shelley Sandzer. A system of checks and balances must be put in place to ensure that local agendas, often driven by a tiny minority, do not dictate what happens, Weir writes:
