Office Demand Slows in South Carolina Markets

Although Elevated, Office Vacancy Remains Below National Average Due to Limited New Supply

Overall absorption of office space across South Carolina’s larger office markets turned negative in the first half of 2023, meaning more office space was vacated than newly occupied in Charleston, Greenville and Columbia. That is a reversal from 2022 when office absorption had stabilized across all three markets.
