San Francisco is seeing fewer layoffs, but employment growth remains negative

The growth surge in AI has yet to translate into more office jobs

Nearing the halfway point in 2025, year-over-year employment growth in San Francisco remains negative. According to estimates from the California Employment Development Department, in May, there were 9,300 fewer jobs in the metro area than in May 2024.
