Radisson soft brand in Spanish debuts

Radisson Hotel Group’s soft brand Radisson Individuals is making its debut in Spain with two hotels, the Blau Hotel Las Caldas, owned by Roxa Hospitality, and the adjacent Blau Gran Hotel Las Caldas, owned by Balneario de Caldas de Oviedo, S.A. Both hotels have 79 rooms.

Manchester’s Gotham becomes The Rex

On April 23, the 60-room hotel The Gotham in Manchester will become The Rex, according to Leonardo Ltd. Edition U.K. Hotels. Leonardo is a division of Israeli owner Fattal Hotel Group, which acquired the hotel in May 2024 for £10.25 million or approximately £171,000 per key. The repositioning of the hotel will include a members’ club.

Nammos opens Amaala hotel

Mykonos, Greece-based hotel firm Nammos Hotels & Resorts will later this spring open the Nammos Resort Amaala in the Triple Bay area of Saudi Arabian giga-project Amaala. The hotel will have 110 keys, as well as 20 private residences.

Criterion opens second-largest Moxy

London-based Criterion Capital and Marriott International have opened a Moxy-branded hotel in London's West End, the 532-room Moxy London Piccadilly Circus. The hotel is the second-largest Moxy hotel by room count, just behind the 612-room Moxy New York City Times Square.

Extendam, Experimental acquire Quinta Da Comporta

Private-equity firm Extenda and operator Experimental Group have co-acquired the 73-room Quinta da Comporta Wellness Boutique Resort in Comporta, 80 miles south of Lisbon. According to Portuguese news site Essential Business, the acquisition price is €70 million or approximately €959,000 per key. An expansion is underway that will add 16 rooms.

Virgin to open Marrakech hotel in 2028

Virgin Limited Edition will open a hotel in Marrakech in 2027 with owner Sazanes Immobilier, a family officer of the Chreky family. Construction has started on the 37-suite hotel, which will be a Moroccan sibling to Virgin Hotel Collection’s 42-room Kasbah Tamadot, which opened in 2005 near to the village of Asni Qdim in the western foothills of the Atlas Mountains.

Minor Hotels signs Zanzibar hotel

Minor Hotels’ brand NH Collection has signed the 145-room NH Collection Pemba Island Resort on the island of Pemba, the sister island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The owner is Infinity Developments, which also is partnering with Minor in the archipelago for the Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences, which is in construction on the northeast coast of the island. The NH hotel is due to open in February 2030. Minor has one other hotel on the islands, the Elewana Kilindi Zanzibar, a 15-room hotel originally built for musician Benny Andersson of ABBA fame.

Locke to open in London’s Canary Wharf

Hotel operator Locke and owner Canary Wharf Group are opening the 279-room Locke London Canary Wharf in London’s Canary Wharf district in May. The hotel, which has 19 floors, is Locke’s sixth London property.

Hyatt signs first European Hyatt Select hotel

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has signed its first Hyatt Select-branded hotel outside of the U.S. To be operated by SIC Properties GmbH, the 140-room Hyatt Select Berlin Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin’s Mitte district has an opening year of 2028.

OKU to debut adults-only hotel in Bodrum

OKU Hotels will open an adults-only hotel on a coastal site near Bodrum, Turkey, on May 1. The OKU Bodrum — construction started in late 2024 — will have 58 rooms, all of which face the Aegean Sea close to the town of Gündoğan.

IHG sign four UK hotels with Fairview

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with owner Fairview Hotels to begin operating four hotels in the United Kingdom later this year. With a combined 382 rooms, the hotels will be in the 91-room Garner Chesterfield North (in Derbyshire); 91-room Garner Lincoln (Lincolnshire); 86-room Garner Rotherham East (Yorkshire), and 114-room Voco Bloomsbury (a conversion of the London Bloomsbury Square Hotel). Renovations are taking place in some of them.

Atland-Voisin buys five B&B hotels

French real estate investment firm Atland-Voisin, via its Épargne Pierre fund, has acquired five hotels from B&B Hotels with a combined 536 rooms. B&B will remain as the operator. The French portfolio was transacted for €32.7 million or approximately €61,000 per key.

Miiro opens second Viennese hotel

Hotel firm Miiro has announced its second hotel in the Austrian capital Vienna. The Miiro Spittelberg — Miiro’s sixth hotel opening in 18 months — has 132 rooms, is very close to the Vienna square of Maria-Theresien-Platz and is the sibling of the 64-room Miiro Palais Rudolf, which opened in January in the Old Town quarter of the city.

Lamington secures £46 million funding for Leeds hotel

Hotel firm Lamington Group and two joint-venture partners, Helios Real Estate and Marrico LLP, have secured £46 million from Aberdeen Investments to develop and open the Room2 Leeds in the Yorkshire city of Leeds. To open in spring 2028, the leased property has no room count as yet but will occupy the city’s former International Swimming Pool, which closed in 2007 after 40 years of sporting use.

Chapter Chianti

Chapter Chianti, an 82-room hotel near Montegonzi, Tuscany, will emerge from the former Fontebussi Tuscan Resort when it opens in June. Following a redesign, the new hotel is within a 16th-century medieval village ranging across almost 100 acres and contain a spa and a restaurant overseen by Michelin-starred chef Vincenzo Martella.

Kempinski acquires Prague hotel

Kempinksi Hotels has acquired the Augustine Hotel, Prague, which has 101 rooms. It is Kempinski’s first hotel acquisition in more than 50 years. Its last acquisition was in 1970, the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich, which remains in its portfolio. The Augustine Hotel, located in the Czech capital’s Malá Strana (“Lesser Town”) district, occupies a building dating back more than 800 years when it started life as a monastery. Kempinski will renovate the hotel, which will continue operating as an independent property until that work is finished. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
