National property consultancy Carter Jonas has announced a strategic restructuring of its planning and development division, including senior promotions.

Carter Jonas said the restructuring aligns with its recently agreed five-year business plan and would improve service delivery nationwide, bringing together senior leadership for the benefit of clients.

Under the leadership of Colin Brown, head of planning and development, the team comprises four business units, each led by a lead partner.

Planning Consultancy will be led by national head of planning, Katy Davis, who has been head of planning in London for several years. She will also continue to lead the london planning team and has been with Carter Jonas since 2014.

Development Consultancy's national head will be Jon Pinkerton. Since joining Carter Jonas in 2019, he has led the growth of the firm’s consultancy services in London and will now oversee these efforts on a national basis.

James Cordery has been promoted to national head of Development Agency. After joining Carter Jonas as a graduate surveyor in 2013, he has specialised in strategic and immediate development land opportunities, working with both private and public sector clients.

For Masterplanning and Urban Design, Jonny Clayton will continue in his role as national head of masterplanning and urban design, focusing on "enhancing the firm’s national expertise in both strategic land and regeneration sectors".

Brown said in a statement: “The creation of these new business units will enhance operational efficiency, promote resource sharing, and generate exciting new opportunities for our team and the wider business. Our clients will benefit from a comprehensive service that combines local market intelligence with our proven national capabilities.”

Several other leadership changes have been made to support the Planning and Development division’s operational capabilities and strategic direction, the company said.

Based out of Carter Jonas’ Oxford office, Huw Mellor will assume the role of head of planning south from Steven Sensecall, who has retired from his role as a partner but remains with the business as a consultant. Cordery will also lead development south, working out of Oxford, Bristol and Winchester.

In Cambridge, Paul Belton has been promoted to head of planning and development east. He will work closely with Dominic Bryant, the newly appointed partner leading the development land team there.

Carter Jonas has also restructured its planning and development board. Colin Brown will be joined by the lead partners from the four business units.
