Avison Young names Pittsburgh chief; Auro Hotels expands real estate team; Fogelman appoints executives 

Avison Young named Michael Downey as market leader in Pittsburgh. The company said Downey will continue to serve the regional office as an active broker, providing clients with leasing, tenant representation and corporate advisory services. Brad Totten will transition from his current role as Pittsburgh market leader and continue with Avison Young as principal, the firm said.

Downey, who has been with Avison Young since 2012, specializes in central business district and suburban office markets and represents clients such as Northwestern Mutual, PPG Industries and Carnegie Mellon University. The 20-year industry veteran previously served as a vice president and principal with Avison Young after earlier work at Grubb & Ellis Co.

Jay Burnett rejoined Auro Hotels as executive vice president of investment and development. The Greenville, South Carolina-based company said Burnett will lead its real estate team and oversee divestments, property acquisitions and provide project oversight. Burnett, who has nearly 35 years of hospitality industry experience, most recently served as chief investment officer at GF Hotels & Resorts and before that worked at AMC Delancey Group and Marriott International as well as at Auro.

Multifamily investment and property service provider Fogelman appointed Kristy Heuberger as president of investment management and promoted Justin Marshall to president of property services. Both are based in the Atlanta office of the Memphis-based firm. Heuberger served most recently as co-head of the Americas and head of asset management at LaSalle Investment Management, where she led a team of 250 people. Marshall previously served as Fogelman’s chief operating officer after earlier work at Tribridge Residential and Sterling Group.

Cushman & Wakefield named Heidi McClenahan as executive managing director for project and development services. The company said McClenahan, based in Cushman’s Chicago headquarters, will oversee 10 U.S. regions along with the group's Canada operations. She has 25 years of industry experience in multiple property categories, serving most recently as the Americas head of investor project management at CBRE.

Chicago-based multifamily brokerage Kiser Group launched a new affordable housing division led by directors Alex Mora and Spencer Burd. Mora and Burd have specialized in affordable housing, including work on long-term investments and public-private partnerships. Both worked for the multifamily brokerage LIHTC Group.

Real estate investment and development firm GID of Boston said it expanded its business with the launch of GID Residential Partners. The new group focuses on multifamily projects and is led by industry veteran Sean Caldwell as president. Caldwell served most recently as executive managing director at Mill Creek Residential, where he was a founding partner, after earlier work at Trammell Crow Residential.

Atlanta-based apartment giant Cortland named Richard Munger as executive vice president of development. Munger, who has 35 years of industry experience, will lead national development strategy, as the firm said it seeks to expand its portfolio in existing and emerging markets. He served most recently as a partner at Toro Development Co., and before that held roles at Fairfield Residential, North American Properties and Gables Residential.

Design firm Ware Malcomb promoted Bill Sotomayor to vice president, based in the firm's New York office. The company said Sotomayor, who opened the firm’s New York office as regional director in 2014 and was promoted to principal in 2021, will focus on national and global business development in his new role.
