Kimco Realty Corp.'s Nate Mitten got several students from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, out of the classroom to check out one of the real estate investment trust's shopping centers down south.
Mitten gave the students a tour of Quail Corners Shopping Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, this month as part of the university's "Into the City" program. It's designed as a "multi-day career immersion and networking program intended to introduce students to living, working, and connecting in the city," according to Messiah.
The trip to Quail Corners let Mitten meet aspiring commercial real estate pros and gave them a behind-the-scenes look at what a future in the industry might look like, including internship possibilities, he said.
"Some of them were particularly interested in the field of real estate and asked poignant questions," Mitten said in a LinkedIn message.
Redeveloped in 2012, Quail Corners is an approximately 110,000-square-foot center that serves residents of Quail Hollow and the surrounding neighborhoods.
