The Anti-Defamation League's Southeast region plans to present Matt Bronfman, CEO of global real estate investment firm Jamestown, with the civil rights group's Torch of Liberty Award next month in Atlanta.

Bronfman, who's known for creating landmark mixed-use projects including Chelsea Market in New York and Ponce City Market in his hometown of Atlanta, will be recognized for his "visionary leadership and numerous and outstanding contributions to the Atlanta community," the ADL said.

The Torch of Liberty event, co-chaired by former longtime Portman President A.J. Robinson, is ADL Southeast’s signature fundraiser to support its efforts to expose extremism, foster anti-bias education and battle antisemitism in the region. The group’s Southeast regional office serves Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Bronfman joined Atlanta-based Jamestown as general counsel in 1998 and became CEO in 2012. During his tenure, Jamestown has completed more than $40 billion in transactions and grown its U.S. real estate portfolio, while expanding into Latin America and Europe.

He serves on the boards of the Jewish Federations of North America and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. Bronfman has also served as a past board member of the Jewish Funders Network, Epstein School and the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Among other community initiatives, he was involved in steering the Jewish Federation through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The longtime real estate executive graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Tufts University in Boston and graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern Law School in Chicago. Bronfman and his wife, Ronit Walker, live in Atlanta and have three adult children.

The awards dinner is scheduled for Sept. 18 at Colony Square in midtown Atlanta.
