Former NFL defensive end Mehdi Abdesmad has fast risen to being one of the top Re/Max real estate brokers in Montreal and now wants to bring the same success to the restaurants that feed him.

After playing American football at Boston College and for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans in 2016 and 2017, Abdesmad now spends his spare time creating videos bringing positive attention to local eateries.

He and his business partner eat out about twice a month and create short videos to let viewers meet the people who run serve up tasty meals. “It’s just for fun and helps people get to know less-known places,” said Abdesmad. The duo has posted about six videos on an array of social media platforms.

Abdesmad, 31, has been a broker for two years and aims to get a commercial license within the coming weeks. He no longer plays football but makes a point of meeting and mentoring young aspirants to the gridiron game. “It’s always fun to get back into football. It’s a pleasure to go out among the kids.”

Real estate calls on many of the skills Abdesmad learned on the football field. “Both require discipline, work ethic and perseverance. You can’t take a day off. Those things apply to both football and real estate.”
