Residents of Birmingham, Alabama started Sunday morning off with a bang. Just before 8 a.m., contractors working on behalf of the Alabama Department of Transportation triggered explosives on the columns surrounding an interchange that took drivers from the Read Mountain Express onto Interstate 59/20 toward Tuscaloosa, imploding the connector.
