Industrial space is increasingly a matter of cubic feet rather than square feet, based on the increase in facilities built with clear heights exceeding 32 feet. This change has been accelerated as many occupiers look to store, ship and produce products more efficiently. Racking systems, advances in supply chain management tools, sensors and robots are enabling these efficiency gains, which include allowing occupiers to use a greater proportion of the warehouse’s total cubic space. Higher clear heights offer occupiers more space for their logistic or storage needs.
