A hopeful for the Great Britain flag American football Olympics team has joined Haslams Surveyors, one of the largest independent Thames Valley surveying and commercial property firms, at its Reading offices.

Tom Holwell joins Haslams as commercial agency surveyor, having worked for Fisher German in Oxfordshire for the past two years. He recently qualified as a chartered surveyor and will work in the firm's seven-person commercial agency team.

The Haslams recruit is a flag American football enthusiast and plays quarterback for the Reading Devils. Flag Football is a non-contact version of traditional American football, with players making "tackles" by pulling flags off opponents' hips.

Holwell was recently selected for the Great Britain flag football team and is hoping to compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. It will be the first time the sport has been included in the official programme of events.

Neil Seager, Haslams Surveyors managing partner, said in a statement: "Tom will play a crucial role in enhancing the firm’s agency team, providing our current and future clients with the expertise and capacity necessary to fulfil their aims and objectives."

Haslams is one of the largest independent Thames Valley surveying and commercial property firms. It has other sporting stars in its ranks, hiring Georgia Fearn, a former competitive water skiing with Team GB, as its first apprentice surveyor in April last year. The firm moved offices to Legal & General's Apex building on Forbury Road next to Reading central train station in September.
