Brookfield Properties UK, the real estate developer and operator arm of Canadian institutional investment giant Brookfield, has appointed Matt Hern as its next head of operations, succeeding Steven Cheshire, who will be retiring in 2025.
The appointment follows Hern's 11-year tenure at Brookfield Properties, during which he has worked across multiple properties in London including Principal Place, London Wall Place, 99 Bishopsgate and Aldgate Tower.
Hern will oversee the engineering, technical, and property management of the company's London office portfolio spanning 5 million square feet, while continuing to lead its efforts to reduce the amount of carbon used.
Brookfield Properties develops and manages a portfolio of Grade A commercial buildings on behalf of Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers with major offices in Toronto and New York City.
Dan Scanlon, president, Brookfield Properties UK, said Hern's "extensive and varied experience at Brookfield Properties positions him well" for the company's next chapter.
Scanlon added: "I would also like to extend our collective thanks to Steven for his exceptional contribution over the last 11 years. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on our business, and we are grateful for the strong foundation he has built for future success."
Matt Hern, senior vice-president of operations, Brookfield Properties UK, said: “I have inherited a great team from Steven, who are committed to delivering first-class service across our London portfolio."
