The U.S. retail market was much quicker to recover from the economic shutdown following the outbreak of the pandemic than was generally expected. This was the case in Sacramento, as well. Once businesses began to reopen, people were willing to return to face-to-face interactions. At the same time, income levels grew, in part due to an influx of people from the Bay Area, who brought their employment with them while working remotely.
