Kidder Mathews has named two senior executives to lead a brokerage expansion across Southern California and Arizona.
The company promoted Darren Tappen to regional president of brokerage for Greater Los Angeles, Southern California, and Arizona. In his new role, he will oversee 215 brokers across eight offices, with responsibilities that include recruitment, business development, and client relationship management. He is also charged with improving collaboration between the firm’s brokerage, valuation, and asset services teams.
The firm also appointed Darrell Levonian as managing director of the Century City office, where he will lead 30 brokers in Los Angeles. He joined Kidder Mathews in 2018 to launch the Century City office, bringing a team of more than 20 professionals from Charles Dunn Company, where he was previously president.
“Darren and Darrell have proven themselves as effective leaders with a clear understanding of how to drive results in complex markets,” said Kidder Mathews Chairman and CEO Bill Frame, in a statement.
Both executives sit on Kidder Mathews’ board of directors and are positioned to help advance the firm’s regional and cross-service integration strategy. Kidder Mathews averages $9 billion in transaction volume, manages more than 58 million square feet of space, and conducts 2,400 appraisal, consulting, and cost segregation assignments annually.
Tappen has been a central figure in Kidder Mathews’ Arizona growth strategy since joining the firm in 2015, when the Phoenix office opened with just eight brokers. Under his leadership, that office has grown into one of the firm’s most robust regional hubs. His track record includes forming one of the firm’s top investment sales teams and serving as Phoenix managing director from 2019 to 2021. Tappen became a shareholder in 2016 and joined the company’s board of directors in 2020.
