Trade war-related job losses beginning to spread to other sectors

Decline in office-using employment threatens to stall the nascent recovery in leasing of that property type

The trade war with the United States is continuing to threaten Canada’s economy and job market. In August, 66,000 jobs were lost across the country, adding to the 41,000 jobs lost the month before. Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate rose to a new cycle high of 7.1%.
