Colliers taps North Carolina regional leader

Colliers appointed Greg Capps executive managing director and brokerage market leader in Raleigh, North Carolina. Capps will oversee all brokerage operations in the region, including recruitment, retention and business development, while also continuing to lead the firm’s life science brokerage business, the company said. He reports to Gregg Shutan, president of Colliers’ East Region brokerage.

Capps has more than 22 years of industry experience, focused on biotech and related occupier services. Prior to joining Colliers, he served as regional managing director at life science property investment and development firm Longfellow Real Estate Partners. Before that, he worked for Newmark and TriProperties.

Waterton looks to boost multifamily projects

Investment firm Waterton hired Kristi Nootens as senior vice president of development. She's based in Waterton's New York office. The Chicago-based company said Nootens will focus on joint-venture multifamily development projects and structuring deals with finance, construction management and research teams. Prior to joining Waterton, she served as co-head of CP Capital U.S., a New York-based real estate investment manager, and earlier held roles at Boston Properties and New York City’s Economic Development Corp.

As market conditions improve and new supply remains limited, “We will be looking for attractive opportunities to invest in joint ventures with top-tier developers” on new projects in supply-constrained and high-growth regions, Waterton Managing Partner Rick Hurd said in a statement. 

Trammell Crow eyes Midwest industrial expansion

Trammell Crow Co. hired Cal Kropke as vice president in its Chicago office as the company expands its team focused on Midwest industrial project development, the Dallas-based company said. Kropke joined Trammell Crow from JLL, where he served in roles including analyst, associate broker and director of industrial capital markets, and was involved in transactions totaling more than $2.3 billion.

Prior to JLL, he worked in commercial lending at Wintrust Financial Corp. after starting his career as an intern at Trammell Crow in Chicago. In his new role, Kropke will report to Josh Udelhofen, who leads Trammell Crow’s Midwest industrial development team.

CBRE bolsters data center valuation services

Jeff Smith joined CBRE as a co-leader of the data center group within the company’s valuation and advisory services practice. He's based in its Charlotte, North Carolina, office. The firm said Smith will focus on implementing data center group strategies after having consulted for industry clients in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, South America and Central America. Smith worked previously at Cushman & Wakefield, where he led its mid-Atlantic and Southeast valuation practices and its national data center practice.

The 20-year industry veteran has also done valuation work centered on distribution centers, golf courses, country clubs, hotels, apartments, offices and shopping centers. He started his career with Integrated Loan Services, and later worked at Joseph J. Blake & Associates, Roy F. Weston Co. and American Appraisal Associates. 

Park Commercial grows property management team

Park Commercial Real Estate launched a property management service division led by partner, Kendall Snyder, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said. Snyder is a 10-year industry veteran who served most recently as vice president for Flagship Healthcare Properties.

He worked previously as a senior property manager for Realty Trust Group in Atlanta. During his career, Snyder has led management and operations for medical office, retail and mixed-use properties.

Park Commercial also added partner Hayes Faulkenberry to expand the firm’s land brokerage business. Recently hired associate broker Rankin Woley will work on office and medical transactions, and associate broker Reece Russell will handle industrial brokerage transactions.
