Retail REITs Continue Consolidation, Kimco will Pay $21 Per Share Plus Debt for MART’s 41 Shopping Centers

The largest publicly traded owner of shopping centers just got bigger. Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE:KIM) announced that it has agreed to acquire Maryland-based Mid-Atlantic Realty Trust (NYSE:MRR) for $21 per share plus assumption of debt. The total transaction size is $680 million, which includes $444 million in equity and $236 million in debt. Closing is expected in September 2003.
