Employees of homebuilding heavyweight Lennar in South Florida and at one of its developments are teaming up with its residents on events to benefit a local nonprofit organization.

Lennar's yearlong partnership with the Hibiscus Children's Center is designed to help the group's operation in Jensen Beach, Florida. Homeowners in Lennar's Arden development in western Palm Beach County and other local residents started the drive by donating new and like-new items, including clothing and personal hygiene products.

"We believe that the strong sense of community among Arden residents will spark a wave of kindness and support," Michael Meyers, president of Lennar's Palm Atlantic division, said in a statement.

The organization offers programs focusing on mental health, preventive care and life skills development.

"This generosity goes a long way in making a difference in these children's lives," Michelle King, Hibiscus' chief development officer, said in a statement.
