Dallas construction executive Fred Perpall has had a busy summer on the golf course, but not as a player. He's just run the gauntlet of his first golf championships as president of the U.S. Golf Association.
Being part of the golf tournaments has left a lasting impression on Perpall, pictured left. After Wyndham Clark won the U.S. Open in June, Perpall said in a LinkedIn post, “The 2023 U.S. Open is over, but the memories will stay with me forever."
Perpall, a member of Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, was named president of the USGA in February. When he’s not busy prowling the greens at some of the country’s top golf courses, Perpall leads The Beck Group, a Dallas-based company with nine offices in North America.
The string of tournaments he oversees began in May with the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball. Perpall also has presided over the U.S. Open at the Los Angeles Country Club; the U.S. Senior Open in Stevens Point, Wisconsin; and the U.S. Women’s Open in Pebble Beach, California. In August, the USGA will host the U.S. Amateur in Denver.
Perpall is an athlete himself. He played basketball at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he obtained two degrees in architecture.
