Echoing National Trend, Amazon Leases in Houston Represented Nearly 12% of Local Leasing Volume This Year

E-Commerce Giant Leased 83 Million Square Feet Nationally, Equal to the Size of Savannah, Georgia’s Total Industrial Market

This year, Amazon signed three large industrial leases in the Houston area. In February, Amazon leased nearly 445,000 square feet at Park 249 in Tomball. This was followed by a March lease for 805,000 square feet at Duke Realty’s Clay 99 in Katy. And then in December, Amazon signed a lease for a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center at Lovett Industrial’s Fort Bend Business Park in Missouri City. Together, these leases represented 11.8% of Houston’s total industrial leasing volume in 2020.
