Migration, Location Spark Growth in Upstate South Carolina

The Upstate region of South Carolina has become the largest population center in the state. Nearly 1.3 million people now call the six counties that make up the Greenville and Spartanburg metropolitan areas home. That’s nearly 150,000 more people than a decade ago, representing a growth rate of around 14%, or twice the national average.
