AIB Group, formerly known as Allied Irish Bank, has completed a refinancing of four hotels in the portfolio of MHL Hotel Collection.
The €190 million ($222.3 million) refinancing package is for the 191-room College Green Hotel and 262-room Trinity City Hotel in Dublin; 184-room Limerick Strand Hotel in Limerick, and 275-room Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway, according to AIB.
The refinancing package included an increase of €70 million in funding, of which €50 million is green finance.
This latest deal comes on the heels of AIB and MHL’s 2025 refinancing of the 215-room InterContinental Hotel and 209-room The Spencer, both in Dublin.
In addition to these properties, the MHL portfolio, which has an overall total of 2,612 rooms, also contains four hotels in Dublin — the 101-room Brooks Hotel; 300-room Hilton Dublin; 168-room Morgan Hotel, and 157-room Moxy Dublin City — one in Northern Ireland, the 179-room Moxy Belfast City — and three in regional Ireland — the 74-room Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course; 96-room Harbour Hotel Galway, and 201-room Powerscourt Hotel, Autograph Collection.
The MHL Hotel Collection is the second-largest Irish hotel group, and its revenue in 2025 exceeded €230 million.
AIB has been a partner of MLH since MLH started trading in 2013.
“This latest refinance, together with other recent transactions, underscores AIB’s long‑standing commitment to the hospitality sector, delivering green finance that supports jobs in communities across the country,” Glenn Shanley, head of corporate banking at AIB, said in a statement.
