Unilever Does It Again

It was only a month ago that Unilever expanded its Atlanta facilities from 600,000 square feet to 1.04 million square feet and signed a 10-year renewal. The company now announced plans, in coordination with ProLogis, the owner and manager of the building, to expand an additional 396,768 square feet to occupy the whole 1.44 million square foot building. The building is located at 8095 McLarin Road in Palmetto, GA. This is in line with ProLogis' nationwide plan for Unilever to consolidate 15 former Unilever distribution centers into five. With distribution centers in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Texas, California and Illinois, ProLogis speculates that Unilever will save 7% in transportation, administrative and facility costs. Unilever will occupy the distribution for the next 10 years. The lease has an estimated value of $60 million.
