Los Angeles Rams Chief Operating Officer Kevin Demoff has joined the ranks of some of the leaders of America's biggest companies who advocate for having employees back working in the office at least some days. It's all part of building a team on the field and off, he said.
At a private real estate panel in Los Angeles, Demoff said there's a definite value to having in-person meetings. Moreover, Demoff, who’s used to roaring crowds at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles, is no fan of how quiet his office is when the organization’s employees are working remotely.
Demoff said the Rams have a flexible office schedule where employees are required to show up two or three days a week. The team's players, of course, are required to come to work in person. "Culture in your office is important," Demoff said.
Demoff’s comments come as Rams owner and real estate developer Stan Kroenke and the team are redeveloping around 100 acres northwest of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles' Woodland Hills neighborhood. That project is expected to feature office space development aimed at tenants who want their campus near the Rams.
Workers and companies want bespoke, smaller campuses instead of established, larger office spaces, Demoff said. "Overall, office is never going to die, but it's going to have to adapt to attract the next generation of workers to want to come in," he said. "The high-rises aren't going to work."
