In the largest transaction in the City of Bridgeport in more than a decade, United Technologies-Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. leased the entire 229,000-square-foot building at 1010-1080 Atlantic St. The facility, which features 101,000 square feet of office space and 128,000 square feet of industrial space, sits on 10 acres. The tenant plans to make significant interior improvements specific to its engineering and design divisions. According to Jon Angel of Angel Commercial LLC, the tenant was attracted to the building because it was set up as a manufacturing facility, has heavy power, a $1 million spray booth, cranes, and office space. Another factor was the strong labor pool in the area: the addition of United Technologies to the building will add a minimum of 500 jobs to the Bridgeport area. Angel added, "It's a tremendous shot in the arm for Bridgeport. In the recent past, we've had nothing but negatives, so it's nice to see something positive get done once in a while." Angel represented the owner while USI Corp. represented United Technologies-Sikorsky Aircraft.
