A team from Asana Partners won this year’s Six on Six volleyball tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina. More important, the 40 teams from local commercial real estate companies raised $250,000 for a youth mentoring charity.
The beach volleyball event, held May 11 at the VBGB Beer Hall, raised money for the ROC Charlotte, which recruits and educates high school students on careers in the construction industry. The ROC operates a construction-skills training program in partnership with Goodwill Industries at 1335 Alleghany St.
The tournament, with teams combining with both male and female members, “promotes camaraderie and networking while raising awareness and support” for the ROC, “which helps aspiring students in the construction technologies industry,” C.L. Burks Commercial Roofing said in a LinkedIn post. C.L. Burks partnered with EastGroup Properties to field a team.
This year’s event was organized by Matt Harper, Haley Hurt, Hayley Wynn, Mikaela Kasalek and Emily Thomson of Childress Klein and Meredith Swanzy, Monica Miller and Tim Robertson at Beacon Partners.
In the final match, a team of underwriters from Asana defeated the CBRE team. Other commercial real estate companies participating include Dogwood Industrial Properties, Foundry Commercial, Hamilton EQ Management, JLL, Prologis, SunCap Property Group and Trinity Partners.
