Murray Scott
Scott has been appointed general manager at 266-room The Standard, London, which is owned by a joint venture consisting of Oaktree Real Estate Investment Trust, Partners Group AG and Trinity Investments. With more than 20 years of experience, Scott’s last two roles were as the general managers of 220-room The Hoxton Holborn and, before that, 210-room The Hoxton Shoreditch, both also in London.
Hélder Martins
Martins has been tapped by United Hospitality Management for its role of vice president of operations, Europe. Martins, who has more than a quarter of a century of hotel and hospitality experience, arrives from a role of complex general manager at the Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites, a Luxury Collection Resort, in Albufeira, Portugal. He also has worked for such entities as Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Westmont Hospitality and Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Megan Kennedy
Kennedy has joined Amsterdam-based hotel firm The Social Hub as its chief operating officer. Her most recent position was as global chief operating officer at London-based members’ club The Conduit. She also spent six years in roles in South and Central America for hotel firm Selina, at one point having responsibility for 55 hotels and resorts and more than 3,000 rooms.
Helga Deboeck
Deboeck has been named general manager at a Minor Hotels-owned property, the 44-room Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa, on an island in Mozambique called Ilha Do Bazaruto. Deboeck joins the hotel from another island, Kérkira, Greece, where she also was general manager of the 236-room Domes of Corfu, Autograph Collection. She started her career at Sandals Resorts and has also worked for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International and Casa Cook Hotels.
Daniel John Thompson
Thompson has been appointed hotel director at 30-room The Pig at Harlyn Bay in Padstow, Cornwall, England. He arrives from the 64-room Thurlestone Hotel in the neighboring county of Devon, where he served as general manager for two and a half years, and, before that, he served as general manager for almost nine years at the 30-room Mullion Cove Hotel.
Kremi McCabe
McCabe has been named general manager at 106-room The Stafford London, a hotel dating to 1741. The last four years of her career have been as director of operations, then hotel manager and, lastly, deputy general manager at the 181-room Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, also in the United Kingdom capital.
Jason Marques
Marques has started as general manager at the 271-room Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa, another hotel within Minor Hotels Group and owned by Invesco. The property is the oldest in the Tivoli hotels brand, having first opened in 1933. Marques has been at Minor since January 2024 when he became the general manager at its 491-room Tivoli Alvor Resort in the Algarve region of Portugal.
Sylvain Lagier
Lagier has been appointed as vice president of operations at Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, joining the enterprise from being group operations director for white-label hotel-management firm Brightstar Hospitality. Before that role, he spent more than 10 years at Atlas Hotels, ending his stint there as head of European operations.
Frederik Deman, Tim Reynolds and Mark Theobald
Deman, Reynolds and Theobald have all been appointed to the role of general manager at three hotels that Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA operates. Deman takes over the helm as cluster general manager for the 174-room Courtyard by Marriott Ghent and 120-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ghent; Reynolds is now running the show at the 217-room Hyatt Place Leeds, in Yorkshire, England; and, in a promotion, Theobald has been given full responsibility for the 357-room Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport in Essex, England.
Frédéric Le Fichoux
Le Fichoux has been named as the new head of hotel transactions, Europe, Middle East and Africa, at business advisory Cushman & Wakefield. On Oct. 1, he will step into the large shoes left by Jon Hubbard, who announced his retirement from a career that spanned four decades. Le Fichoux has been at the firm for almost 20 years.
